Making Ethical Decisions

By successfully completing the Make Ethical Decisions (MED) workshop coaches will be fully equipped to handle virtually any ethical situation with confidence and surety. MED helps coaches identify the legal, ethical, and moral implications of difficult situations that present themselves in the world of team and individual sport.

The MED workshop is a cornerstone of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), and leaves coaches with no doubt as to what to do when the going gets tough.

WHO NEEDS THIS WORKSHOP?

Successful completion of the online MED evaluation is necessary for certification in any new NCCP program. MED training is not necessary to take the evaluation or to achieve certification however in certain programs it can lead to ‘trained’ status. Therefore, any coach wishing to attain ‘trained’ status should investigate taking an MED workshop.

HOW DO I TAKE THE WORKSHOP?

1) IN-CLASS:

 To participate in an in-class MED workshop, please contact your local Provincial/Territorial Coaching Representative.

2) HOME-STUDY:

Some provinces/territories offer MED through home study. Please contact your local Provincial/Territorial Coaching Representative for more information.

3) ONLINE:

The CAC and the provincial/territorial delivery agencies are working with The Coaches Centre (TCC) to make the Make Ethical Decisions workshop available through an exciting online learning environment. Coaches will be able to join this state-of-the-art virtual education centre and learn from the comfort of their own home. 

Coaches will step into a real campus community without leaving their favourite chair...and without compromising any of the in-person learning experiences they'd receive in a classroom setting.  A live Learning Facilitator (LF) will lead the online workshop while real-time access to other students all across Canada will provide an unparalleled opportunity to share experiences and knowledge.

I’VE FINISHED THE WORKSHOP, HOW DO I TAKE THE EVALUATION?

To take the Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation - please click "COACH" or the tab at the top of the page, once you are at the coach.ca website click on the "my locker" tab and then select "eLearning". Please note that you will need a CC# to complete the evaluation.
